NBA Waiver Wire Pickups Christmas Edition

Jordan Bell

Bell has been the beneficiary of injuries to Draymond Green. He has seen 20+ minutes in five straight games and has yielded 9.8 points, five rebounds, four assists and 1.4 blocks per game. It was encouraging that he played 25 minutes last night even with Green’s return to the lineup. In due time, I would assume he would be pushing Zaza Pachulia out of the rotation.

Yogi Ferrell

Yogi Ferrell has also been the beneficiary to injuries. He has played in 30+ minutes in four straight games. In addition, he has produced 14.7 point in his last seven games along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Dennis Smith Jr, when healthy, will be the No. 1 option for guards on the Mavericks, but he takes some maintenance days and there are other injuries on the team. Ferrell should continue to produce.

David Nwaba

David Nwaba has been a favorite of Coach Hoiberg due to his motor. It will be interesting to see if his contributions continue with the returns of Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis. The numbers indicate a slight decline, but a rebuilding Bulls team could result in a trade and open more minutes for Nwaba. In his last nine games, he is averaging 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and one block. He’s only owned in 10% of leagues, so if you’re in need of the next Taureen Prince, David Nwaba is your guy.

Kris Dunn

Yes he is owned in 60% of leagues, but he is available in 40% of leagues! He is averaging 14.2 points, 7.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds in his last 10 games. The players have liked that Coach Hoiberg has taken the reigns off of Dunn and allowed him to play his own style. There is a reason he was taken in the top-5 of the draft two seasons ago. He is getting his minutes and also producing nearly two steals per game. If you have any room on your roster, get him!
